Choosing Lilly

Take Care of Your Dog.com

On April 1, 2011, I chose my third Labrador Retriever. She is a beautiful black female puppy and comes to me from Summithill Labradors in Asheville, North Carolina. She was born on February 13, 2011. I have named her “Lilly.”

Lilly comes to our household at a very important time in our lives. My husband passed away, unexpectedly, on November 11, 2010. My 11 year old yellow lab, Katie, and I, have been struggling with broken hearts and trying our best to move on with our lives. Katie needs a buddy to play with and I need a new puppy to take care of and one that will grow up to be a loyal friend to me after my Katie goes to the Bridge. Lilly will be that buddy and friend. She will bring joy and youth to our lives and will help us move forward with love, laughter and fun. Lilly will be telling her story later on when she has a chance to realize she’s landed in a “Field of Clover.”

This is Lilly at her first birthday. She is giving some serious thought as to what trouble she can get into next. Lilly is a very loveable Lab. She likes to sit on my lap. She is very beautiful, has a petite build and a ferocious bark. She loves her crate, her food and her big sister, Kate. I'm not sure if she has her full growth yet. She is still full of puppy ways, which I love. I have journaled Lilly's first year from her viewpoint. That means Lilly tells the stories. They are entitled "The Chronicles of Lilly." Eventually, I will put them on my website. They are great fun!!!
