Maggie’s Babysitting Job

Hello Doggie Lovers….It’s me …Maggie!

Daddy Earl and me got talked into a Babysitting job recently. Daddy Earl’s grandson has a brown lab named Ruthie. He needed someone to look after her while he handled some business. So, Daddy Earl said we would baby sit her.

Man, I never babysat before! I didn’t know it was such a difficult job!

First of all, we put her in the fenced-in area in back of our house. That satisfied her for a little while, but then she started squalling and we had to get her out of there before the neighbors started hollering. We brought her in the house and I thought she would tear down the house. Daddy Earl had to move everything out of her reach. She was a continuous moving object! She wanted to touch and grab everything. Daddy Earl would say, Ruthie, No.” But she paid him no attention. I’ll tell you, I was worn to a frazzle! I never had seen one of my kind act so out of control. I lay on the floor with my eyes darting from Daddy Earl to Ruthie, wondering what in the world we were going to do. Poor Daddy Earl was moving like lightning trying to get her to behave. I could tell, he was at his wit’s end with that dog.

Finally, after about three hours, Ruthie’s Daddy came to get her.

Me and Daddy Earl figured out why it was so hard to babysit “Ruthie.” We think the problem is ……she’s just a child right now. When she gets older and becomes a lady like me, she will be able to settle down and relax when she comes visiting.
