Maggie Takes Care of Security

Hello again, Doggie Lovers……It’s me Maggie.

Daddy Earl got talked into installing one of those underground security fences. I think the purpose was to keep me in our yard ..safe and sound. Let me tell you….I hate that thing. Daddy Earl can put the collar on me and I sulk…sulk… sulk. I won’t go out of the house. I’m telling you, it’s a source of intimidation!

One day, my Daddy Earl and me were going on a little vacation. We went over to our next door neighbor’s house to ask him to get our mail and paper. When we came back home, Daddy Earl put that silly collar on me. Don’t know why, but he did. I guess, as they say…… to keep me safe.

Well, he let me outside and since I had already been over to our neighbor’s house one time, I decided I would go again. The only problem was…… I forgot I had that old security collar on and when I crossed the line…….Budddddddddyyyyyyy! Did I get a strange feeling! Scared me half silly! There I was in the neighbor’s yard with no way to get back into my yard without going back over that stupid fence. I wasn’t about to go back over that dad-burned thing. Man, was I in a pickle!

I lay down right beside that fence and begin to think. I said, “Maggie, you can figure this out.” Suddenly, my light bulb came on. I decided I would walk beside the line all the way to the road and somehow maybe I could cross it up there. But you know, when I got there, I discovered l still had to cross that silly thing before I could get back into our yard. There I was, in the road with no way to get back in my yard, but cross that fence. It took some further thought, and finally, ….Bingo….I decided I could just jump that old fence and get back in my yard. So, I took a flying leap and over the fence I went, with hardly a tingle. I was back in my yard slick as a whistle! Daddy Earl said, “Maggie, you’re a wonder.”

I’ll have to say….I am a pretty smart girl……Don’t you think?
