Dear Jennifer,
We brought home another baby sister for Ellen today. She is another lab just like Ellen, except she’s yellow in color. Her name is Katie (photo enclosed). Ellen has been so lonely without you. She still goes to each of the bedrooms every morning looking for you. Dad and I have felt so sad for her. She still has that awful disease called Epilepsy. In fact, she had a seizure the day you left us. She was upset and didn't understand why you had left her.
Remember how she always wanted to play with you in her own big clumsy way? You were so wise. You knew she was too big to play with you. You told her so in no uncertain terms. Even though you growled at her, I know you loved her and I know she loved you with all of her heart. You did let her sleep with you, which always made her happy.
I will never forget that night last October ..... the night before you left us. You were very sick. Ellen wanted to make you feel better. She got one of her favorite soft toys and came over and shook it at you as if to say......Come on Jennifer, Let's play! But you did not want to play. You were getting ready for your journey to the Bridge.
Katie will grow large like Ellen. They can romp and play as rough as they like. She will help Ellen get over her loneliness for you. I'm beginning to feel better about your leaving us. I know the Bridge is a beautiful and happy place. I know you're happy there. Have you met Angie yet?
We will always miss you, Love, and remember ..... Katie can never take your place in Momma's heart.
